Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Does the film go on the inside or outside of the glass?
A. Film is applied to the interior surface of the existing glass. There is no need to go through the expense of replacing the glass. At any point, the film can be removed without harm to the glass. For difficult to reach windows, such as skylights, we do have an exterior film
Q. Do you use any chemicals in the process that may damage our furniture?
A. No the total process is completed with water and slip solution very similar to dishwasher liquid.
Q. Why are my windows milky after installation?
A. It is normal for your window film to turn milky they will dry clear after 24 to 48 hrs. However there might be patches that may take longer.
Q. How difficult it is to clean and maintain window tint?
A. It is recommended to allow 10 days for the adhesive to properly bond with the glass. Drying time generally varies based on the weather conditions and temperature.
To clean tinted windows, it is important to use cleaning solutions that do not contain Ammonia.
Ammonia tends to dissolve the scratch resistant layer causing the window film to fail and get damaged easier.
Q. Does tinting stop fading?
A. There are number of factors that affect fading. The pie chart below illustrates the distribution of each factor.

As you can see the number one cause of fading is UV rays. All of our window films block 99% of the suns UV rays. In addition, some of our window films reject/block as much as 78% of total solar energy, reducing damage caused by heat and light.
Nevertheless, it is important to realize that although window film can drastically reduce fading (in most cases more than double the life expectancy of furniture, carpet, etc.), it will not stop it completely.
Q. Will window tinting make the room very dark?
A. It depends on the film. You may choose a product with a very light shade which provides UV protection and rejects solar energy. However, as a general rule, the darker the window film, the more energy will be blocked from coming in (reflectivity of the products are also an important factor in determining the performance of the window film). Most window film even the dark will allow more light in than horizontal blinds open.
Q. Will window film turn purple?
A. Not if you use the right product! Whenever getting a quote, make sure the product is backed by a manufacturers warranty against fading. If there are no dyes used in the structure of the window film, it will not turn purple or fade.
Q. Will window film bubble or start peeling after few years?
A. All our solar control window films are backed by manufacturers’ warranties (life time for residential and 10 years for commercial) against pealing, bubbling and cracking. Our products use the latest “Dry Adhesive” technology with a superior adhesion over traditional “pressure sensitive” adhesives.
Q. What kind of warranty do we receive.
The actual product we use is under a Limited Lifetime Warranty (limited to the time that you own the home, this time however is not limited). This warranty covers delaminating, demetalisation, discoloring, bubbling, cracking and peeling whereas the Workmanship Warranty that will cover bad cuts, debris under film is valid for one year after installation. If the product needs to be replaced under the warranty there is absolutely no charge to you. All labour and materials are covered.
